Students in the Master of Engineering programs pay a special tuition rate, which is not fully covered by graduate assistantships, fellowships or tuition remission. Additional graduate student fees are charged. Tuition and fees are subject to change.
- Tuition rates for on-campus and online classes are not the same.
- Tuition rates do not differ between residents and non-residents of Maryland.

Students taking courses for the Master of Engineering degree work with an advisor to identify a course of study based on the student’s professional interests.

Applicants should have a B.S. degree in engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
Applicants should have an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0/4.0.
Prior to applying, applicants should have taken the following four (4) prerequisite courses: differential equations, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and structural mechanics. Note: Structural mechanics is not required for students interested in pursuing an online Graduate Certificate in Engineering.
Applicants from non-English speaking countries must satisfy the requirements of the University of Maryland's office of International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS), which generally involves submitting scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), financial certification, and visa documentation.
